RESEARCH
The helicopter Service of Iceland has worked with many individuals, companies and institutions through the years, such as the University of Iceland, Iceland GeoSurvey, National Land Survey of Iceland and many more in the field of Glacier and geological research and survey including the Icelandic energy companies, on water & land surveys.

FIREFIGHTING

Fighting fires is a special service and we offer specialized equipment for firefighting, including a 600 liter bucket used to get water from the closest source to the fire and drench the flames. Helicopters travel in straight lines and save valuable time. This can make the difference of saving persons or property from the flames as was so evident in the 2006 brush fires in Borgarfjordur, west Iceland, where the largest open fire in Iceland’s recent history raged threatening property and the lives of people & animals, and in the summer of 2009 when a large area of the fragile lava moss burned for days, just out side the capital, before our assistance put out the flames for good. In a recent report from the fire department, our efforts were praised having been a pivotal point in saving property and containing the fires.

AERIAL FILMING

The Helicopter Service of Iceland has many years of filming experience. Some of the movie projects we have worked on through the years are: James Bond, Batman, Flags of our Fathers, Myrin, A little trip to heaven, HOME, and Blue Fire, to name a few.

We have also been involved in many TV projects such as, shows, commercials and documentaries. We offer a suitable helicopter and experienced helicopter pilots for the task. Professionalism and safety is always our priority.

AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography has always been an integral part of what we do. Icelandic nature is unique and many of the worlds leading photographers, both domestic and intercontinental, have shot some of their masterpieces with us. Their pictures show the fantastic nature of Iceland in a variety of ways.

NEWS FLIGHTS

OTHER SERVICES
Fuel Truck:
Fuel for helicopters (jet fuel) is only available in a few places around Iceland. It would add considerable cost for our clients flying to an airport for fuel. If necessary, we send our fuel truck to the helicopter, when we are flying away from home base. The fuel truck saves both time and money.

Safety Personnel:
There may be a need to have extra personnel on site to provide safety around our helicopters. Projects are evaluated with this in mind, on a case by case basis, as safety is always our primary goal.
